Cartier
Ever since Louis-François Cartier registered his hallmark in Paris in 1847, Cartier has been the elite’s favorite jeweler, its jewels worn, loved and desired by a royal and aristocratic clientele since that debut.
Cartier began as a family owned business: the gemstone genius was Louis-son François's Alfred. Alfred eventually took over from his father and continued to sell jewelry, as well as statuettes, silverware, porcelain, and fans. But it was the founder's three grandsons, Pierre, Jacques, and Louis, who led the house into a stunningly fashionable new era. Cartier, with its finger on the pulse, embraced Art Deco and the Jazz Age, adding its own grow and thrive to the Roaring Twenties with daring combinations of rubies, sapphires, emeralds, and diamonds, sometimes carved to look like scarabs, dragons, tigers, and lotus flowers. Every last carat was prized by high society.
Cartier fragrances aren't just any fragrances: they're designed to adorn the skin like "invisible and intimate precious gems". As a result, they must be made with true olfactory craftsmanship, using rare and luxurious ingredients. And, by definition, the bottles must catch the eye.
Cartier's scented debut came in 1981 with Must de Cartier, a green Ambrée that defied olfactory convention by combining sophisticated galbanum with sensual, sweet vanilla and jasmine. It became an equally wild success because it was spontaneous, luxurious, seductive, and wild. Eau de Cartier, a shareable Cologne-style fragrance launched in 2001: cool, pure, and sensual, it blends cedarwood with violet, creating a shower of sensations from cool to hot.
